On Thinking… Going from Good to Great

Great thinking is one of the magical elixirs that contribute to the magnificent successes and achievements in the lives of great leaders. It opens their minds to new possibilities and opportunities, frees them from the self-imposed limits of their current world view and is an ever-present portal to the “what can be”. Theirs is a journey captured in Benjamin Disraeli’s words, “Nurture your mind with great thoughts, for you will never go any higher than what you think.” Thinking and learning are endless pursuits in their growth and development.

Tony Robbins presents a caution to great leaders saying, “In order to take our lives to the next level, we must realize that the pattern of thinking that has gotten us to where we are now will not get us to where we want to go.” Greater growth requires leaders to continue to evolve and improve the thinking process… to take it beyond one’s own thoughts. Simon Bailey suggests, “Expand your circle to those who can challenge your thinking and escalate you to unreached heights of success.” It is the move to step beyond one’s own world-view and invite exploration of diverse, disruptive and challenging opinions that will take the leader’s original thinking from good, to greater to greatest. As David Bellos writes, “The diversity of tongues is a treasure and a resource for thinking new thoughts.” John Maxwell adds to this saying, “The quicker I take a good thought to other people, the quicker it becomes a great thought.”

An unknown author wrote, “Every next level of your life demands a different you.” May your thinking take you to heights undreamed, and from the seeds of your thoughts be joyously shared with others that, together, you will all go higher than what you thought possible… and more… so much more.

Have a beautiful day and a magnificent week!!!
