A 2024 New Year Resolution

As we stand on the threshold of a brand new year, it is time to reflect on the journey we’ve undertaken and anticipate the possibilities that lie ahead. The New Year offers another blank canvas on which to paint our aspirations and dreams with vibrant hues of passion, intention and determination. At a recent breakfast with two dear friends, Kevin Cummings and Bill Bartzak, Kevin, capturing the friendship of the moment, shared his thought on an extraordinary New Year’s resolution – “spending and enjoying more time with the people you love.”

In a world that constantly urges us to optimize every moment, there is profound wisdom in learning to savor the seemingly unproductive moments spent in the company of those who matter most as well as those we are getting to know. In our daily race against time, we need to more often pause and savor the richness that relationships bring to our lives.

In this new year, resolutely spend more time with those you love as well as cultivating new, meaningful relationships. For in those moments, you cultivate the most meaningful and lasting treasures that life has to offer. They are the beautiful tapestry of shared laughter, genuine conversations and the warmth of human connection. Leo Buscaglia beautifully captures the essence of this sentiment, “Too often, we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”

Happy New Year, my very dear friends. May this New Year 2024 be our best yet!

Have a beautiful day, a magnificent week and may you spend more precious time with the people you love!?

What a beautiful and profound thought.  In the end, lasting happiness and joy and even improved physical and mental health come from our relationships.

Moreover, as you also shared: “Too often, we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”

At times, these moments are productive beyond measure!!

    Thanks, Mike–and Happy New Year.
