When we look back upon our lives, we often discover that the moments we once wished away were quietly moving us toward the people we were capable of becoming. Our struggles did more than interrupt our plans, they moved us. They challenged our beliefs, changed our direction and asked more of us than we thought we possessed. Somewhere within the uncertainty, our mindset began to shift. We stopped asking only, “Why is this happening?” and began asking, “What might this be awakening within me?”
The word moved speaks of something that happened in the past, but its deepest meaning continues to unfold. The struggle moved us then, and the strength it built continues to move us now. Each time we endured, began again, or took one more step without knowing where it would lead, we were building courage, resilience and trust in ourselves. Ernest Hemingway wrote, “The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong at the broken places.”
Our greatest struggles were never simply barriers along our path. They were part of its making. They widened our perspective, deepened our compassion and prepared us for challenges and possibilities we could not yet see. We may not have chosen those difficult chapters, but we can choose what they continue to create within us. The struggle may be behind us, but its gift remains ahead calling us to move forward with greater strength, deeper wisdom and renewed belief in all we are still becoming. Marcus Aurelius wrote, “The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.”
Have a beautiful and wondrous day and a magnificent week!!!
